Oshkosh 2012 IV

Oshkosh, WI 7/20/12 - 7/29/12

The guys started putting up some of the camp stuff a day early, to give everyone less to do the day of.

A lot of work goes into that "camping" stuff.

Miss KayJo and I on the flightline watching "Tora, Tora, Tora!" up close.  :)

Kay's friend A came too.

We enjoyed being up front for the warbird shows, even the girls did.

Tora, Tora, Tora! (Henceforth known as TTT) was a great reenactment show which we all enjoyed a great deal.

The story goes through the bombing of Pearl Harbor,

America's reaction,

The Doolittle Raid,

And the war-ending bomb drops on Japan...

The girls ran up to the front row for that.  They were impressed, and asked a lot of questions about what the announcer was saying.

TTT did a well choreographed show, with great music, air raid sirens, and an announcer with a lot of heart for it.

The T-6s came by for one pass...

And the Bombers and fighters too.

Tough girls weren't always so tough.  ;)

More pyro.  I do love me some pyro.

Dinner was Red Robin, where we ate too much, and I'm trying to decide whether or not to post an unflattering picture of other people.  ;)

Ultralight flies overhead...looks like it's about to fly into our wind sock.

We're waiting for the night show to begin...

The Canadian skydive team...those dudes were amazing.

Some of our gang getting ready to watch the night air show, right up front.  :)

You can't see them, but that's Aeroshell team taking off.

As you can see, my camera couldn't do it, no matter what setting I used.  *sigh*

Gene Soucy, man on fire...great routine.

Now it's pitch black. A T-6 did a routine as well...

Now you're going to have to look at a LOT of fireworks photos, because THOSE turned out just fine!

It was an amazing show...

Jet truck that lights the fuse that sets off the next...

Oh yeah.

Wall of Far.

Did I mention I love pyro yet?  Night pyro is even cooler.  ;)
Grand finale prior to heading back to camp, and home in the morning...

We had to empty a can of Redi Whip, or toss it.  Since it can't be wasted, Mr. T is showing them how it's done.  ;)

However, Josh for the win.  On that note, time to go home.  ;)

Oshkosh is over, and all that remains all over the field, miles of it, are Airplane ghosts in the grass...
